Ben VanderWoude | Owner/ Property Manager
Ben started VanderWoude Property Management in 2005 after graduating from Holland Christian High School and business continued to grow at a fast pace. In 2012, VanderWoude Property Management merged with J/B Works, another local management company, to form BVW Property Management.
In addition to his real estate broker's license, Ben also has a residential builders license and has been involved in renovation projects ranging from $500 to $100,000. Ben holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Hope College.
Kylie Spencer | Operations Manager - Vacation Rentals
Kylie joined the BVW team in 2015 handling Accounts Payable. In her current role she handles property inspections, managing turnovers, guest inquiries, and other administrative tasks.
Her favorite part of working for BVW is the fun, tight-knit staff. In her free time, Kylie enjoys spending time with her family, paddle boarding, and baking.
Jeff Langejans | Maintenance Manager
Jeff has been with BVW since 2015. He handles project management, overseeing contractors, and maintenance work as needed. He has 25 years of experience in maintenance and worked as a project manager in commercial real estate for 15 years.
His favorite part of working for BVW is the wide variety of properties we manage and the tasks involved. In his free time, Jeff enjoys golfing, the outdoors, and going on family vacations.
Simon Moblo | Maintenance Coordinator
Simon joined the BVW team in January 2018. He dispatches all incoming maintenance requests, communicating with tenants, technicians, owners, and vendors, coordinating rental inspections, property turn overs and other large projects. Simon has over 14 years of management experience and 7 years of customer service experience.
His favorite part of working for BVW is the diverse experience and skills of the staff. In his free time he enjoys cooking, wine tasting, and taking day trips.
Lynne Sluiter | Home Owners Association Manager
Lynne joined BVW in May 2014. She handles daily operations and long term maintenance planning for the associations BVW manages. She works closely with board members to maintain and improve their facilities for the enjoyment and benefit of all residents.
Lynne has been a licensed Realtor and broker since 1986 and has worked with commercial/industrial and residential condominium associations, sales, leasing and property management in Michigan. She has previously worked for a development company that developed residential, commercial, and industrial condominiums and has assisted in preparing condo documents.
Susan Langejans | Vacation Rental Coordinator and Leasing Agent
Susan has been with BVW since Spring 2014. She became interested in managing vacation rental homes through her interior design work in various homes along the Lakeshore. She earned her real estate salesperson's license and joined BVW shortly after. She manages all aspects of the weekly rentals from marketing, guest services, and leasing, down to interior design services to prepare homes for vacation season. In addition to vacation rentals, Susan handles long term leasing for BVW including fielding inquiries from prospective tenants, showings, marketing, and lease signings.
Her favorite part of working for BVW is the variety - she can't sit still for long! She enjoys meeting people from all walks of life and helping them find the perfect home -- whether it is a long term rental or planning their dream vacation. In her free time Susan enjoys traveling and kayaking.
Tierza Moblo | Office Manager
Tierza has been with BVW since day one, she worked at J/B Works for a year before they merged with VanderWoude Property Management. She is Ben's right hand and oversees all aspects of the business. She previously worked for a mobile home community with 740 units which sparked a passion for the property management business. Tierza is currently working to get her real estate salesperson license.
Her favorite part about working for BVW is her co workers and passion for property management. In her free time, Tierza enjoys watching her sons play travel hockey and spends many weekends in Detroit and Chicago for games. She is a huge hockey fan -- Go Wings!
Allison Kraker | Accounts Payable
Allison has been with BVW since December 2014. She handles accounts payable, billing, data entry and other administrative support. Previously, Allison was BVW’s receptionist/administrative assistant for 3 years and occasionally fills in at the front desk or dispatching maintenance. She has a background in customer service and a bachelor's degree in Public Relations from GVSU.
Her favorite part about working for BVW is that no two days are the same. In her free time, Allison enjoys spending time with her husband and family, crochet and knitting, and baking.
Sara Mussman | Receptionist and Administrative Assistant
Sara came to BVW in March of 2018. She handles incoming calls, utility transfers, property registration, lease renewals, and much more. She has a bachelor’s degree in Geography and City Regional Planning from GVSU and has done research within the scope of Housing and Urban Development. She also has several years of experience as a receptionist in the medical field and has a deep passion for helping people.
Her favorite part of working at BVW is the relaxed atmosphere, and greeting and talking with clients and tenants. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and children, playing soccer, camping, and all things Disney.
Doug Knapp | Site Manager
Doug joined our team in 2016. He handles maintenance and coordinates various site improvement projects at various associations managed by BVW. Doug has a diverse background in maintenance and business and also worked 30 years with the Ottawa Country Sherriff's Department.
Nic Hurley | Maintenance
Nic joined the BVW team in 2016. He handles general maintenance for all our properties. He has 9 years of maintenance experience including as a supervisor of a 170 unit apartment complex. He also holds a universal EPA certification.
His favorite part of working for BVW is the people. Nic is a sports fan (he loves the Red Wings) and enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 sons.
Jon Mathe | Maintenance
Jon has been with the BVW team since 2017 and handles general maintenance for all our properties. He has over 20 years of custom wood working experience and more than five years building homes. He also handles a variety of large scale projects.
His favorite part of working for BVW is the variety that every day brings. In his free time, Jon enjoys fishing, camping, and spending time with his family.
Mike Putnam | Maintenance
Mike came to BVW in 2017. He takes care of general maintenance for all of our properties including condos and vacation rental homes.
His favorite part of working at BVW is being able to make residents happy by taking care of their requests. In his free time, he enjoys golfing and bowling.
Chester Hoonhorst | Maintenance
Chet joined the BVW team late in 2018. He handles general maintenance in all of our properties. Previously, he handled landscaping and outdoor maintenance at a local condominium association.
His favorite part of working at BVW is having a new experience and learning opportunity every day. In his free time, Chet enjoys spending time with friends and family, especially at their cottage up North fishing, swimming, or boating.
